Waste Collection & Blue Bag Collection Schedule

Waste, Garbage and Recycling
In Breton, all residential and commercial garbage is collected weekly by GFL Environmental Inc from Sherwood Park. The Village of Breton has had a bi-weekly residential curb-side blue-bag recycling program since September 2006 with GFL.

The Village of Breton holds a Household Hazardous Waste Paint and Computer Roundup each September at the Breton Transfer Station on 52 Street. Watch for dates and times on our website and our Facebook page.

For Village Residents Only
For the month of June 2023 the Waste Transfer Site will still accept household waste free of charge. As of July 1st, 2023 this will no longer be accepted for free. Residents will be able to purchase garbage bags at a cost of $3.00 per bag from the Village office. These bags will be the only items accepted for waste. There is a recycle building where items may be dropped off. Shingles are not permitted in the Waste Transfer Site. These may be taken to the Drayton Valley Landfill for a charge.

Trees, branches and yard clippings will still be accepted as per usual. This waste will no longer be burnt each year. It will be chipped twice a year and the mulch from the chipping will be available for resident use. No cardboard, paper, lumber etc is permitted to be disposed of within this pile. All cardboard is to be placed in the newly provided bin.

Waste Transfer Site Fees for White Appliances:

  • Fridges, Freezers - $25 per tag
  • Washer, Dryers, Stoves, Dishwashers, Hot Water Tanks - $15 per tag

The Village of Breton's Waste Transfer Site Reopens June 1, 2023.
Operating Hours: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - MAY 29, 2023 - After the spring 2023 fire at our waste transfer site, Village Council reviewed the operations of the site and have instituted additional safety measures. These will take effect in stages as indicated here.
